Rebellion of 1857: What would have happened if India has got independence that time

The mutiny of 1857 threatened the British and compelled them to dissolve East India Company and reorganize the army, the financial system and the administration in India. It  all started in Meerut, when the Indian soldiers in British army were asked to bite off the paper cartridges for their rifles made with animal fat, especially beef and pork.

The rebellion was unsuccessful due to lack of coordination and cooperation, because most of the Company-controlled regions of India didn’t take part in rebellion. The rebellion was suppressed by the Company.Image

According to the British, India might have been got independence if other states cooperated and also India would have been no India but would be divided into small self governed princely states.
